Cooling Center Activations

When cooling centers activate, this page will be updated with relevant information regarding activations and supplies.

How does our Cooling Center Operate?

When temperatures reach dangerously high temperatures, our Cooling Center activates. In the event of activation, the Day Center, Drop-In, Woodburn Shelter and Santiam Outreach Community Center (SOCC) may expand its hours of operation for the day and this page will be updated to reflect these hours.

Those in need of safety from the heat are able to take shelter at our Day Center to protect them from the heat and stay hydrated.

How can the Public Help?

You can support cooling shelters by donating the following items:

• Water bottles
• Gatorade or other electrolyte beverages
• Socks
• Cooling towels/neck wraps
• Individual sunscreen packets
• Body wipes
